Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.
Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.
When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,
"Richness, can you take me with you?"
Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."
Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!"
"I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.
Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."
"Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"
Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.
Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder, Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?"
"It was Time," Knowledge answered.
"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"
Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."
很久以前，曾經(jīng)有一個(gè)小島，島上生活各種各樣的情感：快樂(lè)、悲傷、智慧，還有別的一些事體，其中就有“愛(ài)”。有一天有人告訴它們小島要沉沒(méi)了，大家把造好的船都開(kāi)跑了，唯獨(dú)留下了愛(ài)。
愛(ài)是唯一留在島上的，它想盡可能堅(jiān)持到最后一刻。
但是小島就快沒(méi)頂了，愛(ài)決定求救。
正好富裕坐著一艘大船經(jīng)過(guò)。愛(ài)說(shuō)：“富裕啊，你可以讓我上船嗎？”
富裕說(shuō)：“辦不到。我船上有很多的金銀財(cái)寶。沒(méi)有你的地兒了。”
愛(ài)決定向榮華求救，榮華也正經(jīng)過(guò)：“榮華，幫幫我吧！”
“我?guī)筒涣四悖闳矶紳窳耍瑫?huì)把我的船弄壞的。”榮華回答道。
悲傷接近了愛(ài)，愛(ài)就問(wèn)了：“悲傷，讓我跟你一起走吧。”
“噢……愛(ài)啊，我太憂愁了，我需要一個(gè)人呆著！”
快樂(lè)也從旁經(jīng)過(guò)，但是它太高興了以至都沒(méi)聽(tīng)見(jiàn)愛(ài)的呼喊。
突然一個(gè)聲音說(shuō)道：“來(lái)吧，愛(ài)，我來(lái)載你。”是一位老者。如此幸運(yùn)，如此歡欣，愛(ài)都沒(méi)問(wèn)它們要去哪。當(dāng)它們到了干燥的陸地上，老者顧自走掉了。當(dāng)愛(ài)回過(guò)神來(lái)，想起老者的大恩，愛(ài)問(wèn)另一個(gè)老者——智慧：“是誰(shuí)幫了我呀？”
“是時(shí)間啊。”智慧回答道。
“時(shí)間？”愛(ài)問(wèn)，“但她為什么幫我啊？”
智慧雋永地一笑，回答道：“因?yàn)橹挥袝r(shí)間才能負(fù)擔(dān)愛(ài)的價(jià)值。”
